Once your motorhome is 3 years old it requires an MOT, this does not mean that if you have owned it for less time than 3 years you don't need an MOT, any vehicle older than 3 years old regardless of how long you have owned it needs to have an MOT every year to make sure that is falls between the guidelines that the government has put in place to ensure that it is safe to be on the roads. The MOT test will test your motorhomes emissions and safety.

Over the years there has been much confusion about where motorhomes lie in conjunction with the MOT test, some are considered a 'motor caravan' while others are considered a 'living van', currently it is accepted that if you are not carrying goods such as small cars or motorbikes on your motorhome then you should have your motorhome MOT every year after it is 3 years old, if you are then you may need to have an MOT every year from new.

The MOT test consists of over 150 checks the test is designed to ensue that your motorhome falls betweens the guidelines that the government has put in place as to what they deem safe. The MOT test is not a service as it does not require us to improve upon the health of your motorhome if it passes so we recommend that you also get a service each year as well.
